Combining practicality with typical French flair, and yet ideal as a learner / first car owing to its low running costs, is this lovely Citroen DS3 Chic.

Registered in September 2016 and finished in bright yellow with a contrasting black roof, wheels and interior, the car has covered a total of 81,000 miles in the hands of just two owners. The car comes with plenty of supporting service history, too.

Powered by Citroen's 1.2 litre petrol engine through a 5-speed manual gearbox, the performance is more than adequate if no actual road burner. But having said that, it wasn't designed to set the roads alight, it's designed to be economical and safe. And because of the engine's small size and low emissions, in addition to its generally low running costs, the car qualifies for the lowest £20 a year road tax and is also both ULEZ and Clean Air Zone compliant.

Inside, the car is very well equipped, with the usual electric windows and mirrors and air con, but also cruise control and DAB radio. The dash is slightly more toned down in these later models compared to the earlier models, which is a genuine improvement in my humble opinion.

The car is currently MOT'd until March 2025 and so is pretty well ready to drive away, although a new ticket can be obtained prior to delivery for full peace of mind.
